.

Soon after, I began attending births and joined the TLC Midwifery team as a midwife assistant a role I’ve held for over a decade. Over the years, I’ve supported hundreds of families across homes, hospitals, and birth centers, offering calm, grounded, and intuitive care through every stage of the journey.

For many years, I’ve also worked alongside traditional midwives in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I continue to return often. That experience deepened my reverence for birth as a sacred and physiological process and continues to inspire my path toward becoming a licensed midwife.

I’ve also had the honor of assisting multiple midwives throughout Los Angeles County and currently work alongside several of them. Learning from these wise and skilled women has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey witnessing their artistry, intuition, and deep trust in birth continues to shape the midwife I am becoming.

My philosophy is simple: your birth, your way. My role is to help you feel informed, safe, and supported through one of life’s most profound transformations -the passage into motherhood.

Meet Amie

Giving birth brought me to my true calling.

Hi, I’m Amie—an experienced birth doula and midwife’s assistant with a deep passion for supporting families through the powerful, transformative journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Born and raised in Venice, California, I’ve always been drawn to nurturing others. Before entering birth work, I spent years as a preschool teacher and nanny, caring for families and young children. When I became pregnant with my first child in 2012, I chose midwifery care and had a peaceful home birth with my midwife, Davi Khalsa an experience that forever changed me and opened my heart to this work.

Amie has trained extensively in birth and postpartum care. She began her doula journey with TLC Midwifery under Davi Khalsa, and later completed a postpartum doula training through Nourished Mother with Alex and Megan. She is certified in Spinning Babies®, neonatal resuscitation, and CPR, and has also completed yoga teacher training through Love Yoga.
As a student midwife, she brings both clinical skills and nurturing presence to her work—having supported numerous births, caught babies, and assisted with injections and IVs. Amie also incorporates her knowledge of herbs into her care for mothers during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

It was as if my sister was there, she was so kind and gentle we immediately clicked. Truly my labor angel! She is so knowledgeable and relatable and empowered me so much both pre-natal and during labor and delivery. I am so thankful I got to have her by my side

"For over 7 years I’ve had the pleasure of working with Amie Ray. Her deep love and commitment for helping women in childbirth has made her one of the best birth assistants in the greater Los Angeles area. Any woman who is fortunate to have Amie at their birth will realize her experience and knowledge and her depth of caring will single her out as a cut above the rest

"She is an outstanding doula. You will not regret having Amie as your doula at your birth."

The moment she came in the room I felt something deep inside of me relax. I felt held and seen and safe and I just wanted her near me. I will always feel that she was an earth angel for us

"I will be forever thankful for Amie and her support both during the birth of my daughter and in the weeks that followed

She guided me through all the unknowns of pregnancy and made sure I was educated, prepared and well cared for. Having her at my birth was the biggest gift I could give myself! She physically and mentally guided me through labor and delivery. She was there for me through all the ups and downs of my postpartum and became a lifelong friend.

"With Amie as my doula and she helped me achieve the birth experience I dreamed of having

Amie is the BEST. She is passionate, dedicated, reliable, skilled, and FUN...As an assistant, she is meeting parents for the first time at the birth--even then, the parents always tell me afterwards how lovely and helpful she was, and how much they appreciated her presence. She's respectful of every family. I always feel like she has my back, and I never worry that she's going to miss something important--she pays attention to the details, which matters in birth. I have had many assistants over the years and Amie is definitely in the top tier.

She's a bit of a birth junkie, in the best possible way.

CAITLIN

She stepped in to perform the work of our Doula towards the end of my pregnancy and immediately rose to the occasion, providing valuable care, insight, information, encouragement and advice. She was available and willing to talk or help every time we needed her. She came to the hospital very early in the morning when I was being induced and worked so well with my husband. She truly performed the role of a servant in administering to my every need —physical and emotional.

I cannot recommend her highly enough for the responsibility of doula. Look no further.

I felt so comforted through moments of question in pregnancy and so supported through the process of my birth. During labor she helped me navigate through tough moments to honor my birth plan. Her love and care has carried through to postpartum as my husband and I adjusted to life at home with our little one and the physical healing that I faced. I feel so grateful to have had Amie by our side and to be able to call her a friend today.

Working with Amie through pregnancy and birth of my first baby was such a joy.
